Central Y Tri 2009


My life has come full circle. This morning, I was back at the Central Y Tri. Two years ago, the Central Y Tri was my first tri ever (thanks you, Lia). My friend Laura has caught the Tri bug and is rocking her age group.

I haven't done any triathlons since last April when I was in Las Vegas. My long hiatus and lack of training showed in my times. But I did have a really fun time and used my "Puke and Rally" and "Love the Pain" signs to cheer people on.

Obama and Socks





I was so excited to get these new things.

First are President Obama trading cards. D was looking for UFC trading cards at Target and stumbled upon them. There are 8 cards in the pack and one sticker. We got a couple of packs to put away for the kids.

Second, when I went to buy my new running shoes at First Gear, they had these great wool socks. One set is sock monkey and the others have black sheeps. So cute I couldn't resist.

Knit and FIt

I have both knitting and fitness in this post.

Last semester my knitting mojo was buried under a huge mountain of school work but over the break I dug it out and dusted it off.

I am finding great joy in knitting. I knit three Thorpe hats, I just need one more for a family set.
The first hat is a gift for a friend, I have always been rather selfish knitter but I am finding the happiness that knitting for someone else can bring.


On the fitness front, I have been working hard at really committing to my workout schedule. I have set up little goals to help keep me motivated. I decided that if I worked out 21 days in January I would buy some new running schools - technically I was 2 days over but I still bought the shoes and I feel great about it. Next is a new fancy watch for running - 30 days to that goal.

I am currently training for the Central Tri on February 21st. The 2 mile Easter Sun Run in April and the 10K River Run in May.
